Bio

Winnie has been a Vocalist and a Singing coach for over 25 years. She founded her own Voice Studio in 1998. From 2008 to 2019, she was the resident Voice instructor for the CEF Vocal Foundation Course at Baron School of Music, HK.  And had written the syllabus for the Voice Program at the Contemporary Music Academy, HK. She was also a contracted Voice instructor for the special studies modules at the Medical School of Hong Kong University in the late 90s. Currently, she teaches full-time privately in-person/online and part-time at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, School of Drama.

Winnie is a certified Estill Master Trainer under the mentorship of Naomi Eyers (EMCI with advanced testing privileges and service distinction). Winnie has co-hosted EVT Complete Lv 1 & 2 Courses in Hong Kong yearly since 2022. She also leads practice groups in different international EVT Lv 1 & 2 courses regularly. She attended the Estill World Voice Symposium in London (2019). Currently pursuing her MA degree and continuing studies in various disciplines to further her professional development.

She started her formal voice training at 13 with Pop Vocal coach Ruth Chen. Meanwhile pursuing Classical Voice training with Susan Digby at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as a junior student of the Chamber Singers. She then attended San Domenico School, a music-oriented college preparatory school in California, where she continued her studies in Voice and Classical guitar. During this time, she was awarded the “Bank of America Achievement Award in the field of Foreign Languages”. Her repertoire covers multiple languages.

Majored in Music at Barnard College, Columbia University in New York, where she studied with Gigi Hagamatili in Classical Voice training. She later transferred to Berklee College of Music, Boston, where she pursued her studies in Vocal Performance with renowned teachers such as Lawrence Watson, Jerry Secco, Lisa Thorson and Livingston Taylor, focusing on Pop, R&B, Jazz, and Latin vocal music.

She began her professional performing career as a resident singer at the Cossack Bar, Ritz Carlton Hotel, during her summer vacation in Hong Kong. She has since been performing at various venues in and outside Hong Kong. After returning to Hong Kong, she worked regularly with Jazz musicians such as Guy Le Claire, Anthony Fernandez, Robbin Harris, Sylvain Gagnon, Dan Lavelle, and Rickard Malstein. She also participates in demos, TVC jingles, movie-themed songs, voiceovers, and audiophile CD recordings.

Venues of performance for regular gigs/functions include Grand Hyatt Hotel HK, Four Seasons Hotel HK, Peninsula Hotel HK, Island Shangri-la Hotel HK, Ritz Carlton Hotel HK, Sky100, Shanghai Shanghai(Ritz Carlton), 10 Shanghai (Lee Garden), Paper Moon (Harbour City), Rice Paper (Harbour City), Piano Bar (Happy Valley), Jazz Club, Staunton Cafe, Con Fusions, Poison Ivy, Music Room, Aqua, Kee Club, Gecko, Cova (Pacific Place), Bohemian Lounge, Friday Fest at Taikoo Place, Sea-Gaia (Sheraton Hotel, Miyazaki, Japan) and many more other venues and functions for international clients.

She has also adjudicated various singing contests in Hong Kong. Her previous clienteles include professional singers, singing teachers, TED talk speaker, HK celebs, and HK singers/groups, including Supergirls, AsOne, Jill Vidal, JC, Thomas Ng (Warner Music, US), Sukie Shek, Jessica Kan, Stephanie Ho, Angie Shum, Gillian Chung......etc.
